OUR PILING SERVICES

Mini Piling
Steel Driven Piles If your building inspector told you to pile it, mini-piling is a quick and cost-effective solution. Mini Piling is ideal for Extensions, Conservatories, and New Build Houses. You can have an extension piled, steel placed in position, and concreted in less than 3 days. Steel-cased driven piles are generally used for underpinning existing structures or to support new foundations. This system of piling is particularly suitable for use within unstable ground and soft or water-bearing sub soil. Manchester mini-piling covers all of Greater Manchester and Cheshire. We will do all the structural calculations for your mini-piles, install the steel caging and arrange for the concrete to be delivered and poured. Our range of piling rigs is specifically designed to work within restricted access and headroom situations. The majority of our rigs will pass through a standard doorway. Our steel-cased driven piling systems range from 100mm diameter to 320mm diameter and are installed using drop hammer rigs or Grundomat piling hammers.

Under Pinning
Traditional Underpinning Mass Fill The traditional method of underpinning is where the affected structure has sections excavated in a “hit and miss” sequence to a pre-determined depth below the existing foundation. This is then inspected by local building control and each excavated pit is then filled with concrete Pile and Needle Beam Underpinning Mini-piles are installed to either side of the affected wall, a pocket of brickwork is then removed below ground level then a pre fabricated steel cage is installed to span over the two piles. This is then inspected by local building control and then concreted. This requires access to both sides of the wall Cantilever Pile and Beam Underpinning The method of installation is as per the pile and beam listed above, however by using the piles in compression and tension all of the works are carried out from the outside the property thus saving considerable costs in the removal of internal floors and fixtures. We also have a single pile option for restricted access areas. Piled Raft Underpinning This system of underpinning is used when it has been decided that the whole property has been affected. All existing floors are removed and mini piles installed. Pockets of brickwork are then removed and reinforcement placed as per the engineer’s specification. This is then inspected by the local building control and then concreted.

Concrete and Steel Piles
Bottom Driven Piling The installation of a bottom driven pile is quick, efficient, economical and ecological. The pile consists of a steel tube, closed at the driving end, and is driven into the existing ground by forcing the ground aside which produces no spoil to be removed from site. The pile tubes are manufactured in lengths from 1m up to 3m to cater for piling in restricted headroom sites. Pile sizes range from 150mm to 323mm with capacities from 100kN to 580kN. Bottom driven piling is the piling system of choice when access is restricted and the piles need to be installed to carry high loads. Due to the ergonomic design of this piling rig, we can be ready to install piles within half an hour of our arrival on site and as we are a national company distance is not an issue. Top Driven Pre-Cast Concrete Piles Precast concrete piles are suitable for a wide range of ground conditions and are typically more economically advantageous than other piling systems as there is no spoil to dispose of and higher strength concrete allows for a smaller pile in comparison to an equivalent bored pile. High strength concrete piles have high chemical resistance and are not affected by the presence of ground water. Precast concrete piles are an efficient form of piling, generating no spoil for costly disposal, using high quality materials and allowing for immediate follow on work. Piles come in lengths of 3, 4, 5 & 6 meters’. Advantages of bottom driven piles are: * Inexpensive to mobilize and far less intrusive than full sized piling equipment * Small, but powerful, highly mobile piling equipment * An economical and ecological piling system * Low noise and low vibration impact on the environment * No spoil to be removed (a particular advantage on brownfield sites where contamination may be an issue). * Minimal site preparation - usually no piling mat is required * Piles become self-testing when they are driven to a pre-determined set * Piles can be installed in the most challenging ground conditions, including peats, soft clays and loose sands where other piling techniques are unsuitable. * Restricted access can easily be overcome

Groundworks
GROUNDBEAMS To compliment the installation of piles we also offer a complete ground works package. This includes the provision and fabrication of reinforced steel cages and the construction of cast in-situ concrete ground beams. This work varies from individual domestic house extensions, multiple new build plots and commercial developments. Installation of ground beams enables the client to quickly commence building the structure. By providing a comprehensive range of additional services Piling Team delivers total support and takes care of all aspects of your foundation work ensuring total peace of mind. Our Additional Services include Setting out, Foundation Design Packages, and Pile Testing Service including Dynamic Load Tests and Integrity Tests. Ground Beams are designed to support brick/blockwork or to form a permanent shutter to the edge of insitu concrete floor slab. The amount of reinforcement introduced into the design will be used to suit specific loading requirements and the beams can be designed to withstand any heave forces with the use of void forming or compressible materials. Installation may require piling, then once that is complete we excavate the ground to a width and depth required by your design or shuttered above ground. Reinforcement is then placed and the pile reinforcement tied into the ground beam. After inspection by the relevant authorities the beam will be concreted. FLOOR STABILISATION In situations where industrial floors and yards are subject to excessive loading, we can improve the load bearing properties of the surface by pile insertion. This is a quick and clean process and causes minimal disruption to your business. To support existing concrete ground floor slabs, we can install a permanent pile casing in a pre-bored hole to a calculated 'set' to carry the working loads. Piles are installed at designed centers and constructed to support the existing concrete slab by means of an enlarged head at the top of the pile.
